'Towering' engineering victory

Queenwood School for Girls

A team of students from Queenwood School for Girls won the Paper Tower Challenge, beating competitors from eleven other schools—from Sydney to Gulgong and as far as Hawker in South Australia.

The event, organised by Engineers Australia, gave 149 students the chance to meet with some of ANSTO’s inspiring young engineers, including Ryan Beeby from the Australian Nuclear Medicine project and Ciara Collins from the 2017 graduate program.

Rod Dowler, from ANSTO’s Discovery Centre, said that it was a great opportunity to make students aware of the important role of engineering in our society.

“ANSTO is home to some of Australia’s best engineers and research infrastructure, and we’ll need the next generation of engineers to help us to meet some of the challenges of the future,” said Dowler.
