Role at ANSTO

Dr Guo Jun Liu is the Biology task leader in the Bio-analytics group of ANSTO LifeSciences. Dr Liu examines the impact of radiation on genes, proteins and lipids.

Background

Dr Liu attained his MD at the Jilin University in China and PhD at the Gifu University School of Medicine in Japan. He then accepted a University Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at the University of Western Australia, followed by a University Research Fellowship at the University of Technology Sydney.  Before joining ANSTO LifeSciences, he worked as a Senior Research Officer and Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Physiology and the Brain and Mind Research Institute at Sydney University, where his field of study was Neuroscience.

Research interests and areas of expertise

Dr Liu's research interest is mainly in the study of basic biology, using radiation combined with genetic and physiological methods. He is an expert in the areas of cell biology, cell imaging (including calcium imaging), electrophysiology (including patch clamp), and impedance spectrometry.
