Dr Tien Pham
Radiochemistry Team Leader, Lucas Heights
ANSTO Life Sciences
Staff Profile
Role at ANSTO
Tien leads research tasks in the investigation of novel approaches to the synthetic incorporation of PET and SPECT radioisotopes onto small molecules, peptides and proteins.
Background
After completing his PhD in organic chemistry at the University of Wollongong in 2003, Tien accepted a position as a Post Doc at ANSTO. He then continued on as a research scientist. In both roles Tien was responsible for the synthesis and radiolabelling of small molecules, with 18F, 123I, 125I and 99mTc targeting cancer and neurodegenerative diseases. Tien is currently the radiochemistry task leader in ANSTO Lifesciences.
Expertise
Tien’s areas of expertise include organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, radiochemistry, radiolabelling small molecules proteins/peptides, HPLC, PET, SPECT, 18F, 123I, 124I, 125I, 99mTc, 11C.
Qualifications & Achievements
- PhD in Organic Chemistry, at the University of Wollongong (2003)
- BSc (Hons) in Medicinal Chemistry (1998)
- Tien is a member of the Society of Radiopharmaceutical Science.
