Role at ANSTO

Dr Dehong Yu is responsible for the PELICAN Time-of-Flight Spectrometer at the OPAL reactor at ANSTO. His expertise includes studies of magnetic materials, thin films and nano-scale materials with neutrons, electrons and synchrotron radiation.

Prior to joining ANSTO, Dehong Yu was an ARC research fellow at the University of Western Australia, working on spin-dependent interactions in atoms as well as an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow at Munster University in Germany, for one and half years, working on electronic structure in magnetic nanostructures. He is now responsible for the PELICAN Time-of-Flight Spectrometer at the OPAL reactor at ANSTO.

Qualifications & Achievements

  • Alexander von Humboldt Fellow at Munster University in Germany, working on electronic structure in magnetic nanostructures
  • ARC research fellow at the University of Western Australia working on spin-dependent interactions in atoms shortly after finishing his PhD
  • PhD at the University of Western Australia on spin phenomena in atoms, molecules and magnetic surfaces using spin-polarised electrons
  • BSs and MSc from Qufu Normal University, Beijing Normal University and Physics Institute of Chinese Academy of Science
