Abstract:

This seminar focuses on the application of small-angle scattering of X-rays and neutrons in the field of soft matter research, including biological applications. A short introduction in the principles of small-angle scattering (SAS) is followed by the basic description of the different evaluation schemes with special emphasis on dense interacting systems.

Examples include viruses, nano-gold-colloids, lamellar systems, polymer and surfactant micelles, micro-emulsions, and finally hierarchically organized liquid crystalline systems.
