Australian entry requirements and visas

Please check http://www.immi.gov.au for entry requirements.  All travellers other than Australian and New Zealand citizens need to apply in advance for the requisite entry permit or visa.

Australia has very strict customs and quarantine laws.

You will be required to sign a customs declaration on arrival and your baggage will be checked by customs officers.  In particular, you must declare for inspection all food, plant material and animal products on arrival in Australia to ensure they are free of pests and diseases.  See http://www.daff.gov.au/aqis for more information.

Arrival

Conference participants from overseas and from other major cities in Australia will arrive in Sydney at Sydney International Airport.

The city centre is not far from the airport and can be reached by train, bus or taxi in about 20 minutes.  Your hotel may offer airport transfers.

Conference location

The conference will be held at the Australian National Maritime Museum, Darling Harbour (http://www.anmm.gov.au/).

This is within walking distance from many hotels and from the city centre via Pyrmont Bridge.  There are nearby stations on the monorail and light rail networks (see http://www.metrotransport.com.au).

Darling Harbour may also be reached by bus, ferry or water taxi.
