Research at ANSTO is conducted through four research institutes
- The Bragg Institute
- The Radiopharmaceutical Research Institute
- The Institute for Environmental Research
- The Institute of Materials and Engineering Science
Dr George Collins is Chief of Research.
Dr Collins is responsible for the overall leadership and management of the research and development activities of ANSTO's research institutes.
