ANSTO LifeSciences

Researchers within ANSTO LifeSciences utilise nuclear and isotopic techniques to probe the fundamental properties of living matter to gain insights that will benefit individuals and society.

Rather than functioning as a single department, ANSTO LifeSciences operates in spheres of activity, with interdisciplinary teams using a range of technology platforms to investigate intractable biological issues such as disease prevention and treatment, environment and climate change.

ANSTO LifeSciences continues the work previously undertaken by the Radiopharmaceutical Research Institute (RRI), such as the development of radiopharmaceuticals for imaging and treating diseases such as cancer, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.

ANSTO LifeSciences has the imprimatur to ask the big biological questions, and to provide education and training to improve outcomes and the public understanding of science.
