Overview
 

Home to over 300 of Australia’s leading scientists and world-leading scientific facilities, a tour of ANSTO offers a compelling insight into the role nuclear science, technology and engineering plays in the development of life-saving medicine, climate change research, materials engineering and national food security.

 

Tours are suitable for novices to budding scientists aged 8 to 88 and are designed to be entertaining and informative for all.

 

During the tour, ANSTO Education Officers are happy to answer your questions on a range of topics from safety and radiation to how to kick-start a career in science.

 Overview of ANSTO Tours Available:

 

School tours are available Monday - Friday for Year 5 through to HSC classes and are designed to meet syllabus outcomes. University and TAFE- tours can be customised for your students.

"Up and atom" weekend and school holiday tours

Relevant Information

"Up and atom" tours are available every second Saturday, 9.45am - 12.15pm and 1.15pm - 3.45pm

Dates for tours in early 2013 are: Jan 12, Jan 19, Feb 9, Feb 23, Mar 9, Mar 23, Apr 13, Apr 20

 

Suitable for individuals or small groups.
Tour duration: 2.5 hours.
 

Tours for larger groupsTours for larger groups (12 or more people) are available Monday to Friday .
 

 

Tour bookings and security requirements

 

At least one week prior to your tour:

 

  • Please provide us with your identification details (name, address, drivers licence or passport details).


On the day of your tour:

 

  • Make sure to wear sensible,flat, fully enclosed shoes (no stilletto-type heels).

  • Check in at the Discovery Centre when you arrive, and adults present photo identification to an ANSTO representative.

  • The following items are prohibited on site: unauthorised photographic devices, including mobile phones or other recording equipment, weapons, firearms, explosives, alcohol, animals or containers with volatile liquids.

  • Please leave bags, cameras, mobile phones and other valuables in our lockers at the Discovery Centre. Prams and strollers must not be taken on site.
