Nuclear medicine
Our ANSTO Health division plays an important role in Australia’s nuclear medicine and health industries supplying 10,000 patient doses of potentially life-saving nuclear medicines each week to over 250 partner hospitals and medical practices across the country.  Learn more
Silicon Irradiation
We remain a leading provider of neutron transmutation doping (NTD) silicon irradiation services for the semiconductor industry worldwide, delivering high quality consistent irradiated silicon used in high end electronic switching devices. These devices are used in a range of applications such as power infrastructure, high speed trains and to facilitate the development of energy from renewable sources such as wind.
Mining and minerals 
Our Minerals division provides consultancy services for the global minerals industry including undertaking applied research to develop processes for the treatment of ores containing, uranium, rare earths and other critical metals. ANSTO has over 25 years’ experience in providing radiation safety management for clients, offering expert advice, services, consultancy and training tailored to the needs of each client. The organisation’s practicing radiation experts monitor and provide advice on all aspects of radiation safety in many applications and in compliance with relevant Australian regulations and standards. Synroc plant 
Synroc is an Australian innovation that can significantly reduce the volume of nuclear by-products compared to other waste management methods. 
ANSTO is building a Synroc waste treatment plant which will deliver a permanent, safe and economical means for treating the necessary by-products of nuclear medicine production and enable Australia to demonstrate the technology to international markets. Learn more
