Maintaining and regularly checking the accuracy of your radiological instruments is an important safety control.

ANSTO has more than 15 years experience providing this essential calibration service based on approved methods and standards traceable to the Australian standard.

Calibration facilities and services

ANSTO has a fully interlocked, purpose built Health Physics Instrument Calibration Rig which facilitates efficient and safe calibrations of gamma and neutron dose rate meters.

ANSTO has many years of experience in the measurement of ionising radiation. ANSTO offers a comprehensive radiological instrument calibration service to clients. This includes:

• Accurate calibrations of radiation survey monitors against Cs-137 sources of various activities traceable to the Australian Standard of exposure
• Instrument response reports for contamination monitors using wide area reference sources.

Instrument calibration pricing

Price is dependent on quantity of instruments to be calibrated. Bulk discounts apply.

Adjustment charges apply when an acceptable calibration requires significant additional work to adjust instrument settings. Customer would be notified in advance.

Using ANSTO Calibration

Before shipping: Please raise a purchase order to accompany the radiation detector.

Shipping: It is your responsibility to supply freight to and from ANSTO. This can be done either by using a courier marked charge receiver or alternatively the instrument(s) can be dropped off and picked up at the ANSTO receiving building between 8.30am and 4.30pm, Monday to Friday.

Please notify the calibration facility manager if leaving it at the ANSTO receiving building (see ANSTO map).

There is a maximum turn around time of 7 days applicable to most instruments unless otherwise notified.
