Team projects are organised and managed in one of the following Project Areas:
- Data analysis suite support projects
- Data reduction capability projects
- Platform support projects
- Standards support and collaborations projects
- Advanced computing techniques projects
Data Analysis Suite Support Projects
P001 Package Registry Project
- Provide access, information and support for a suite of scientific data analysis packages to users of the OPAL facility.
P002 Data Format Translation Project
- Implement data format translation from NeXus-compliant acquired data sets (NeXus) to supported data formats at the OPAL facility
P003 Analysis Tool Discovery Project
- Discover, evaluate and attain mastery in selected classes of software tools: - data acquisition and pre-analysis treatment - scientific modelling / instrument simulation - neutron and X-ray science analysis tools - visualisation of scientific processes and data
P004 Package Deployment Architecture
- Investigate and evaluate deployment technologies, and specify the systems required to manage and maintain the data analysis suites at the OPAL facility
Data Reduction Capability Projects
P005 Process/Algorithm Manager Architecture
- Design the software architecture necessary to support data treatment and reduction algorithms, and to integrate the interfaces into the GumTree architecture
P006 Algorithm Development
- Detail the algorithms required for data treatment and data reduction capability, and integrate them into the Algorithm Manager architecture for GumTree.
P007 Visualisation Tool Integration
- Implement data set visualisation tools for GumTree, including interactive components for data treatment and reduction.
Platform Support Projects
P008 Instrument Cabin Services
- Assist in the specification of equipment, computing hardware and software for use in the instrument cabins to support the experimenter.
P009 Instrument Models and Server
- Implement the Instrument Model Server that maintains a network accessible model of instrument structure and state. Construct instrument models based on available NeXus components, which are instantiated, maintained and navigated via the Instrument Model Server.
P012 Data Access Manager
- Design and implement a server component that maintains and serves experimental data sets to clients including the Algorithm Manager within GumTree.
Standards Support & Collaborations Projects
P013 Nexus Framework
- Implement set of NeXus components as Java beans
Advanced Computing Techniques Projects
P015 Monte Carlo Simulation
