The 1600C ILL type vacuum furnace is a high vacuum furnace heated by passing up to 300A through a thin niobium element. The outer furnace body is made of aluminium and there are various heat shields to contain the heat. 

The sample is mounted to a sample stick with a 40mm bore.

The P1100 high-temperature air furnace can reach temperatures up to 1700oC. In the photograph, the sample is mounted in the centre of the hot zone, from above.

The Insitu Reaction Chamber (ISRC) is being built at the Bragg Institute to a design by researchers at the University of Melbourne led by Dr Dan Riley. 

When complete the ISRC will allow custom heating elements to be incorporated on an as needed basis. It is anticipated that the maximum sample temperature will be 1400C. There will be the ability to have the samples in air, vacuum, oxygen or inert gases.
