ANSTO's research capabilities, led by the OPAL nuclear research reactor and associated instruments provide access to users investigating areas as diverse as materials, life sciences, climate change and mining/engineering.

Amenities
Toilets and showers are located on the ground floor of the visitors centre (bld. 83), the OPAL neutron beam facility (bld 82) and in the general Bragg Institute building (bld 87).
ANSTO motel
The ANSTO motel (also called Steven's Hall) is located near the cafeteria outside the protected area. Internet access is available (wireless).
Emergency procedures
Emergency instructions are fixed to walls near all exits and adjacent to all stairways doors. If you hear an alarm walk to the nearest muster point (you will be made aware of these during safety training and there are signs at every exit). Muster point A is located outside of the buildings and Muster point B is located inside the building you are in when the alarm sounds. Look for and report to a building warden in a yellow hat.
First aid kits
First aid kits are located on all floors and first aid personnel are available in every building. Please make yourself aware of their location.
Gate hours
Gate hours for the main gate are from 7am to 7pm, for anyone with an ANSTO security pass, the turnstile loacted near the cafeteria is accessible between 8am to 5:30pm. Visitors are only permitted onsite between 8am and 5pm. For visiting scientists with an ANSTO security pass who wish to stay after hours, you can fill out an after hours work form which will inform relevant ANSTO security and safety personnel. Talk to your local contact for further details.
Library
The main ANSTO library is located onsite, a short walk away from the buildings 87, 83 and 82, on Rutherford street. The library cane be accessed between 9am and 5pm. The library has computers available for literature search. Alternatively there is a small Bragg Institute Library on level 1 of building 87 containing a small collection of books and journals.
Lunch and Tea breaks
The kitchens are located in building 83, building 87 on the ground and first floor, as well as in building 82. Each tea room is equipped with tea and coffee facilities, a microwave, fridges and other facilities. Outdoor dining facilities are located between the Bragg Institute building and the Opal auditorium (B83).
Alternatively the cafeteria is located outside of the protected area. A range of hot and cold meals, tea, coffee and drinks can be purchased, as well as a small selection of newspapers.
Local areas which can be accessed by car from ANSTO (there is very limited public transport) include Menai, Engadine and Bangor which offer a range of restaurants, clubs and pubs.
Mail, stationary, fax and photocopiers
Mail dispatch areas are located in buildings 82 and on the first floor of building 87, near the administrative area. Mail should be dropped off before 11am into the 'out' tray. Your mail may be delivered to these areas, or in a pigeonhole closer to your office. Ask your colleagues or the Bragg Institute User Office for details.
Fax and photocopiers are located in building 87 on the first floor as well as in building 82. Stationary is located nearby the mail rooms in building 87 and 82. For stationary requests, such as lab books, please see the administrative staff on level one, building 87.
Medical centre
The medical centre, also known as the Health Centre, is located in building 21A.
Money
There are no Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs/money machine) onsite, the closest ATMs and banks are located in Menai shopping centre.
Reception and security centre
The main reception and security centre are located in building 38. Upon entering ANSTO, turn left and follow the road down taking a right at the first car park just past the ANSTO sign. This is where all security passes are collected as well as visitor reception.

Telephone and internet access
Telephones and internet access are provided for ANSTO-related activities. For onsite phone calls simply dial the extension number, a listing of Bragg Institute staff members can be found on the Bragg Institute website.
Internet access is provided via a wireless network in the OPAL neutron beam facility (Bld. 82) as well as in the Opal auditorium building (B83). Otherwise the guest network is provided via ethernet (no wireless card required). The computer room for users is in the neutron-guide hall (B82). Report any problems to the Bragg Institute User Office on extension 7276.
Users Lounge
The users lounge is located in building 83 where you will find a television and Foxtel available. There is a drink and snack vending machine located here too.
