Regional atmospheric 14C offsets and atmospheric circulation
| Tree rings (Pinus kesiya) from central Thailand. |
Investigations of regional atmospheric 14C offsets have been carried out for the northern tropics in Asia and Africa, the North Atlantic region, and East Asia based on published 14C in tree rings and atmospheric data sets during the bomb peak period.
Measurements of 14C in tree rings from Thailand, during the latter part of the Little Ice Age and the pre-bomb period, have also been conducted.
These results indicate that seasonal atmospheric circulation patterns are crucial for the understanding of regional atmospheric 14C differences. This notion can be applied to the interpretation of small regional 14C offsets of the remote past.
