Bomb 14C in tree rings from South East Asia and Australia
Studies have been conducted in South East Asia and Australia; regions where atmospheric bomb 14C data are rare.
| Pinus radiata from Armidale, Northern NSW. |
The results indicated bomb 14C levels in the troposphere decrease from north to south with a time delay of 0.5-1 year from the northern hemisphere temperate region to the tropics and a further 0.5-1 year from the tropics to the southern hemisphere temperate region. These new 14C data are very useful for the study of the global carbon cycle, atmospheric transport and air-sea exchange of CO2.
