Tritium in surface / groundwaters
The facility is dedicated to the determination of environmental levels of tritium in water. Applications are in the areas of water resource management and planning, and tracing of groundwater flows.
The laboratories are equipped with sufficient apparatus to process 32 one litre samples simultaneously. Quantification of tritiated water concentrations down to 0.006 Bq/kg (0.05TU) is achieved via 68 fold electrolytic enrichment followed by 2000 minutes of beta spectrometry on each sample via one of the four Quantulus ultra-low level liquid scintillation analysers (LSA).
- Low level analysis using Liquid Scintillation Counter (LSC)
