Role at ANSTO 


Anton Le Brun is currently an Instrument Scientist for the SPATZ neutron reflectometer in the Australian Centre for Neutron Scattering. Before this he was a Research Fellow based in the National Deuteration Facility holding an Australian Research Council Development Early Career Researcher Award (ARC DECRA). Other previous positions include Instrument Scientist on the PLATYPUS neutron reflectometer and post-doctoral positions at ANSTO and Diamond Light Source Ltd.

Broad research interests are in studying biological phenomena using neutron scattering techniques, particularly around biological membranes. This includes fabrication and characterisation of biomimetic membranes as platforms for investigating membrane structure and protein-lipid interactions, utilising the properties of membrane proteins and lipids for use in biotechnology, and understanding the interactions between drugs or antibiotics and lipid membranes.
