Biological responses to radiation

The biological responses to radiation research theme focuses on understanding the impact of therapeutic to environmental radiation doses on living systems. This research theme is led by the bioanalytics group which aims to:

  • Understand low dose radiation effects on whole animals, cells and cellular compartments
  • Improve dose rate estimation for radiotherapy
  • Understand adaptive mechanisms to environmental radiation

Current research projects include:

  • Impact of radiation on mitochondria
  • Influence of genotype variation on radiation response
  • Adaptive response of the gut microbiome to radiation

The bioanalytics team welcomes the opportunity for research collaborations. We also encourage talented Honours and PhD students and post-doctoral fellows to join our team. If you require further information please contact Richard Banati.
