Dr Nick Hauser received his PhD in Physics from the University of Technology, Sydney in 1994. His research interests were electrical, optical and chemical characterisation of electrical insulators.  In 1988 he worked for AWA Defence and Aerospace Research Labs in Sydney as a Materials Scientist. 

 

He moved to the Australian National University in 1991, to develop facilities for electrical and optical characterisation of semiconductors. His interests were in the design and implementation computer automated scientific instruments.  In 1995 he moved into the information technology industry mainstream, working as a systems administrator, then as an analyst/programmer and project manager.

 

In 2002 he moved to the Bragg Institute, working as project manager for computing and electronics under the Neutron Beam Instruments Project. His responsibilities are instrument control, data acquisition and data analysis. He serves on the NeXus international advisory committee.
