Role at ANSTO


Naomi is a radiochemist and instrumentation officer at ANSTO LifeSciences and is responsible for the radiolabelling of small molecules and peptides with 18F, 123I and 125I targeting cancer and neurodegenerative diseases. She also works heavily in the transfer of radiolabeling techniques to automated technologies including the Advion microfluidics systems and other automated radio-synthesis modules from GE, iPhase and Synthra.


Background


Naomi completed her undergraduate degree in Biology and Geosciences at the University of Wollongong in 2003, where she was also employed as a Research assistant for the geosciences department. Following her degree she was employed as a production technician at ANSTO to produce radiopharmaceuticals and irradiated sources for use in industrial equipment. Subsequently she was employed as a Professional Chemistry Officer for the Radiopharmaceuticals Research Institute within ANSTO assisting in the research and development of new radiopharmaceuticals. This led to her current position as Radiochemist and Instrument Officer in ANSTO Lifesciences.

Naomi’s expertise lies in radiochemistry, automated modules including microfluidics, HPLC instrumentation, and radio-metabolite analysis.
