Role at ANSTO
Atun graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Chemistry) degree from the University of Technology, Sydney. She joined the Analytical Chemistry group at ANSTO in 1990 specialising in trace metal analysis (by AAS, ICP-AES, ICP-MS).
In 2000, Atun was transferred to the Low Level Radiochemistry laboratory, where she became the laboratory manager. The facility specialises in determining natural radioactivity in environmental samples by alpha and gamma spectrometry.
Atun has assisted numerous ANSTO & AINSE research collaborators with the lead-210 sediment dating method.
