Meeting the challenges of a changing scientific landscape with virtual power
From digital to biological: A full-stack research capability
A unique scientific capability comprising a single research platform for high-fidelity simulation, real-time dosimetry, and biological response data is available all from a neutron instrument.
Cross collaboration on highly competitive funding for projects and facilities
Nanoprobe beamline (NANO) - under construction
The BRIGHT Nanoprobe beamline provides a unique facility capable of spectroscopic and full-field imaging. NANO will undertake high-resolution elemental mapping and ptychographic coherent diffraction imaging. Elemental mapping and XANES studies (after DCM upgrade) will be possible at sub-100 nm resolution, with structural features able to be studied down to 15 nm using ptychography.
Agreement with J-PARC opens neutron scattering conference
Major study identifies a potential drug target for lowering cholesterol
Study explored how key proteins manage dietary cholesterol absorption and elucidated crucial transport mechanisms that contribute to cholesterol balance in the body.
Australia’s best and brightest nuclear scientists recognised in 2018 ANSTO Awards
The ANSTO Awards in Nuclear Science and Technology 2018 were presented on Friday 2 November at The Australian Museum, and showcased ANSTO’s unique nuclear science and technology capabilities, which enable progress in the key areas of health research and innovation for industry.
Powerful mathematical calculations guide the startup of a nuclear reactor
The nuclear analysis team at ANSTO recently had a significant role in the re-design and optimisation of a cold neutron source facility for the reactor, its installation and the subsequent restart after a six-month shutdown.
Successfully navigating the challenges of replacing a component in a nuclear reactor
The installation of a cold neutron source (CNS), a component that reduces the energy and speed of the neutrons from a research reactor for use in scientific instruments, was successfully completed in September 2024.
