Sample Environments

Welcome to the Bragg Institute sample environment page. We look after all the sample-environment altering equipment (temperature, pressure, vacuum, magnetic and electric fields) that is available to users of the Bragg Institute. See here for a complete list of all sample environments currently available. Graphs showing the current range of available temperatures, pressures and magnetic fields for each instrument are available.

Please note that at the moment we need as much warning as possible if you require the orange liquid helium cooled cryostat. This ancillary is only to be used when a conventional closed cycle refrigerator will not be sufficient.

If you intend bringing your own sample environment equipment with you please let us know so we can ensure that it can easily be mounted to our A-Z systems sample mounting stage.

We have 5 sample preparation laboratories available for use. These are for biology, chemistry, furnace, high pressure and cryogenics.
