
ANSTO's research vision is to be recognised as an international centre of excellence in nuclear science and technology for the benefit of all Australians. The organisation also actively seeks research collaborations.

The Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO) is a public research organisation responsible for delivering specialised advice, scientific services and products to government, industry, academia and other research organisations. It undertakes research in areas as diverse as materials, health, climate change, mining and engineering, with its research portfolio being organised into four main institutes (below).
ANSTO also encourages collaborations with external researchers, providing access to its facilities and instruments through its user offices.
AINSE facilitates access to the special facilities at Lucas Heights by universities and other tertiary institutions and provides a focus for cooperation in the nuclear scientific and engineering fields.The Institute arranges for the training of scientific research workers and the award of scientific research studentships in matters associated with nuclear science and engineering.
