Greg Whitbourn studied electrical engineering at Sydney University, graduating in 1972.  He has worked in private industry and at several electricity utilities.  Greg has occupied a broad range of engineering positions in the areas of policy, design, construction and project management.  Greg spent over six years working on the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games and progressed to the role of Manager Olympics at EnergyAustralia, with overall responsibility for the company's Olympic Games programs, including infrastructure development, engineering, operations, marketing and employee development.  In this role, Greg was also responsible for EnergyAustralia?s performance as the official energy manager of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.

Greg has had significant consulting and project management experience on electricity and infrastructure projects and was the lead consultant for projects involving power supplies to the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympic Games, the 2002 Manchester Commonwealth Games and the 2004 Athens Summer Olympic Games.

Recently Greg has worked as an engineering consultant, an asset strategist and product manager for power electronics products at Toshiba International Corporation.  Greg moved to ANSTO in April 2002 as Project Manager for the OPAL reactor.
