Dr John Stride is a UNSW (Chemistry) Bragg Fellow, having research interests primarily in molecule-based magnetic materials and nanotechnology. He is actively engaged in the design of the PELICAN Time-of-Flight spectrometer.

His expertise includes chemical physics, inorganic and materials chemistry.

John completed his PhD in 1995 at the University of East Anglia, UK, using neutron and muon techniques to probe the magnetic and dynamic nature of molecular systems. This naturally led on to a postdoctoral position in the Hahn-Meitner Institute in Berlin, Germany, where he worked on the development of new instrumentation. From there he moved to the Laboratoire Lon Brillouin in Saclay, France, for hands-on experience of polarised neutron diffraction. In 2000 he moved to the Institut Laue-Langevin in Grenoble, France, working as an instrument scientist at the world's most intense neutron source. In all of this time he pursued his research interests in materials and in particular magnetic molecular systems.

Qualifications & Achievements:

  • Author or co-author of over 50 refereed scientific papers and has presented his work at several international conferences and specialist workshops
  • PhD at the University of East Anglia, UK, using neutron and muon techniques to probe the magnetic and dynamic nature of molecular systems
