Role at ANSTO:
Greta's responsibilities lie primarily in facilitating the establishment of the chemistry laboratory for the new National Deuteration Facility being set up at ANSTO. She is also co-cordinating the acquisition of major equipment. Once the facility is established, she will investigate the feasibility of isolating bacterial membrane phospholipids which will be deuterated and used as precursors for the synthesis of target molecules for characterisation using Neutron Reflectivity and Small Angle Neutron Scattering (SANS). Greta's background is in Natural Products Chemisty.

Expertise: Flash chromatorgraphy, HPLC, MS, NMR, structure elucidation.

Qualifications & Achievements:

  • Research Scientist, Industrial Research Limited, Lower Hutt, New Zealand (1997-2007)
  • Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand (2006)
  • Bright Futures Enterprise Scholarship (2001-2003)
  • BRAP (Bilateral Research Activities Programme) Grant (2002)
  • Research Chemist, Hoechst Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Mumbai, India
