Branch pipe

The branch is made on a X70 457 mm OD 9.8 mm w.t. gas pipeline with a SMYS (Specified Minimum Yield Strength) of 483 MPa. For integrity calculations this SMYS will be used. The section of pipe where the branch will be made, and the reinforcing sleeve which surrounds it both have a greater wall thickness of 14.1 mm giving 28.2 mm total thickness. The branch pipe is 273 mm x 12.7 mm thickness X70. The reinforcement sleeve is in contact with the outer surface of the run pipe, and is welded to the run pipe at the ends of the sleeve, and also to the branch. By symmetry, a quarter model was used for all models (figure 3)
