Anna Leung

Role at ANSTO

Anna joined ANSTO as a National Deuteration Facility (NDF) Chemist in 2014.  As part of the chemical deuteration team, Anna produces molecules with deuterium incorporated into their structures.  The introduction of this isotope provides scientists with more avenues to analyse molecules using neutron based techniques and other spectroscopic methods.

Organic synthesis, NMR spectroscopy, stereoselective synthesis.

Anna completed her PhD in synthetic organic chemistry in 2013.  She accomplished the first synthesis of two novel marine natural products and used NMR spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography to determine that their proposed structures were incorrect.

  • PhD (Monash University), 2013
  • BA/BSc (Hons) (Monash University), 2009
