What to Expect:

Engineering the City: Design, Power & Control is a full-day, hands-on engineering workshop designed for students aged 12–14. In this immersive experience, students step into the role of engineers and explore the many pathways engineering offers through the challenge of designing and building their own city.

Students will investigate civil engineering by designing structures and infrastructure, electrical engineering by powering their city, and software/computer engineering by exploring the systems that keep everything running smoothly. Along the way, they will tackle real-world challenges, test ideas, problem-solve as a team and consider ethical questions such as sustainability, safety and accessibility.

This workshop encourages creativity, critical thinking and collaboration, while showing students how engineering shapes the way people live, work and connect. No prior experience is required - just curiosity and a willingness to build, test and explore.

Workshop presented in partnership with Education Ethos

At Education Ethos, we inspire students to pursue STEM fields by teaching technical concepts through contemporary issues and a humanities-based lens. We work closely with our clients to curate tailored, hands-on workshops that align with their goals while connecting science and technology to society, culture, and ethics. Through this approach, we help learners understand not just how things work, but why they matter, keeping learning engaging, creative, and fun.
