ANBUG Promotion of Women in Neutron Scattering Program 2026

To encourage more female students and ECRs to attend the ANBUG-AINSE Neutron Scattering Symposium 2026, a special program has been developed aiming to promote women involved in the neutron scattering community. This initiative is under the umbrella of the ARC Georgina Sweet Australian Laureate Fellowship program. Several financial support options to a maximum of $500 AUD will be provided to the awardees.

These will be selected via a merit-based assessment conducted by a defined selection committee, composed of several senior academic staff, including female staff.

Selection Criteria

  • The applicants must be current female undergraduate/postgraduate students or ECRs (<10 ys since receiving PhD)
  • Applicants must be ANBUG members (to join ANBUG for no cost refer to website: https:/ /anbug.net/).
  • The applicants must have submitted an abstract to AANSS 2026 for either an oral presentation or poster. Please attach copy of abstract with all applications. 
  • A CV must also be provided which includes a publication list

Initiative will offer:

  • Registration fee reimbursement:
    • 8 x Full registration
    • 8 x Student registration
  • Priority for oral presentation, where possible (as determined by AANSS 2026 Committee)
  • $500 each for up to two cases as a childcare supplementary support Reimbursement based on invoice and supply of the report (see below) after conference.

Post-award expectations:

  • Awardees will provide a report on the reward and experience after the conference (half page with one photo within 1 month post conference)
  • Willingness to attend a women's event (organized by the ANBUG) to share the experience (within 6 months)
  • Awardees join the coming ANBUG women's network.
