
Digital Media Collection Notice
In performing its functions, ANSTO recognises and respects your privacy. ANSTO is committed to compliance with the Australian Privacy Principles (code) and the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
In this privacy collection notice ‘we’, ‘us’, ‘our’ and ‘ANSTO’ means the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ABN 47 956 969 590). We will collect, use, disclose, retain and destroy personal information in accordance with this collection notice, ANSTO’s Privacy Policy, the Privacy Act 1988 and the National Archives Act 1983.
Why is this information being collected
Pictures, videos and/or audio that identify you are personal information. While on our site(s) or attending an event, function or engagement hosted/facilitated by ANSTO, we may collect photos, video and/or audio (together; Media) of you (‘the material’) as they reasonably relate to the organisations functions or its activities. This media may be published in any form and on any medium – including but not limited to vision, audio, print, and digitally, i.e. via a website or on social media.
How will this information be used?
ANSTO may use the material for one or more of the following reasons:
Promotion of or reporting about ANSTO courses, educational offerings, events, functions or activities;
General display (or display for any other purposes, including to assist ANSTO with promotion and/or communication of the organisations functions or activities); or
Any commercial or non-commercial distribution of the resulting education or promotional products/resources.
Disclosure of personal Information
The material may be made available by ANSTO through publicly accessible sites, and the content may be downloaded by persons accessing such sites. We may provide media to Australian government departments, agencies or organisations who are involved with or sponsor the event or activity. We will not distribute media to overseas entities or organisations except under contract where relevant privacy protections exist or where we are permitted or required to do so by law.
Withdrawing your consent
You can withdraw consent regarding the use of media depicting you at any time, or enquire about making a privacy complaint, by writing to the ANSTO Privacy team via privacy@ansto.gov.au or via one of the other avenues captured in our Privacy Policy.

ANSTOs use of the media collected is unrelated to its use by any third party operator, cosponsor or event host (as applicable). If you have any questions about how they are collecting or using your personal information you should consult their Privacy Policy.
All persons engaged to collect media are either ANSTO staff or parties engaged under relevant contract, where ANSTO maintains content/media rights.
