Senior Nuclear Analyst

Role at ANSTO

Dr Subhasish Mitra is a Senior Nuclear Analyst in the Thermal-hydraulics team of the Nuclear Analysis Section (NAS). The team specialises in providing the expert technical support to OPAL reactor to optimise the thermal-hydraulic performance of the key components of the reactor flow system ensuring its safe and reliable operation.

Subhasish’s focus is on rigorously characterising the flow behaviour of OPAL flow components in the water tunnel facility and perform computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modelling to quantify the critical flow parameters as turbulence and its role on heat transfer.

Expertise

Subhasish’s primary area of expertise includes multiphase flow dynamics involving flow visualisation and computational fluid dynamics modelling. He also brings his practical experience of managing large scale chemical processes with expertise in process troubleshooting, modelling and simulation and detailed engineering design.
