Expertise
Dr Valerie Mitchell is a beamline scientist on the SAXS/WAXS beamline at the Australian Synchrotron. She works with the rest of the SAXS/WAXS team to maintain the beamline and provide support to the SAXS/WAXS user community. She has previously worked on the XAS and MEX beamlines at the Australian Synchrotron.
Dr Mitchell completed her PhD at the University of Melbourne. Her background is in the synthesis and characterization of organic semiconductors for organic photovoltaic applications. The focus of her previous research was on fully-conjugated block copolymers as a means of morphology control in organic photovoltaic thin films, which required the use of synchrotron-based scattering techniques such as SAXS/WAXS and GIWAXS for evaluation.
