Valerie Mitchell
Scientist - XAS

Dr Valerie Mitchell is a beamline scientist on the X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy beamline at the Australian Synchrotron. She works with the rest of the XAS team to maintain the beamline and provide support to the XAS user community.

Her background is in the synthesis and characterization of organic semiconductors for organic photovoltaic applications. The focus of her previous research was on fully-conjugated block copolymers as a means of morphology control in organic photovoltaic thin films, which required the use of synchrotron-based scattering techniques such as SAXS/WAXS and GIWAXS for evaluation.

Expertise

Synthesis of organic semiconductors and thin film characterization methodology including synchrotron-based scattering techniques, AFM, and photophysical techniques.
