Radiation measurement

Radiation measurement

ANSTO's capabilities in radionuclide metrology facilitate the maintenance of Australia’s national standard of measurement for radioactivity (the Becquerel standard). We ensure that users of this standard, such as nuclear medicine departments, have access to precise standards for the measurement of radiopharmaceuticals administered to patients.

Our expertise in the detection and measurement of ionising radiation supports our client’s needs in the development of new technologies that measure ionising radiation.

Radioanalytical chemists measure natural and anthropogenic radionuclides in support of our environmental research programs and our nuclear operations.

ANSTO has a stewardship role in maintaining Australia’s nuclear forensic capability.
