Merit Access Terms and Conditions

By submitting a proposal for Merit Access to ANSTO’s Biosciences, Centre for Accelerator Science, Isotope Tracing, Nuclear Stewardship or the Vivarium capabilities, you are agreeing to the following Terms and Conditions.  These Terms and Conditions1 apply to external merit researchers, scientific collaborators and partners unless there is a specific agreement in place between ANSTO and the home institution of the Principal Investigator.

1 Apply only to Lucas Heights facilities and capabilities, excluding Australian Centre for Neutron Scattering (ACNS) and National Deuteration Facility (NDF)

Publications and Co-authorship

  • ANSTO expects that researchers obtaining Merit Access to ANSTO’s Facilities and Capabilities (Centre for Accelerator Sciences, Biosciences, Nuclear Stewardship, Isotope Tracing in Natural Systems, Vivarium)  will use best endeavours to have the Results published;
  • The Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research 2018 (the Code) should be followed when considering authorship. This consideration should ensure ANSTO employees or contractors who provided a significant contribution are acknowledged in a manner consistent with the Code. ANSTO expects that Users should discuss co-authorship with their ANSTO contact/s prior to undertaking the approved Merit Access research.
  •  ANSTO expects/requests that within 30 days of any publication of the Results, the Principal Investigator notifies ANSTO of the title, authors, date of the publication and digital object identifier for the publication;

Acknowledgement

ANSTO’s support shall be acknowledged in all publications arising from the approved Merit Access proposal/s. 

These should be consistent with ANSTO guidelines below:

  • The authors acknowledge the support of ANSTO in providing access to instruments, capabilities and facilities used in this via Proposal {insert Proposal ID}

Or

  • The authors acknowledge the support of ANSTO in providing access to instruments, capabilities and facilities used in this via Proposal {insert Proposal ID}. The support ANSTO’s Centre for Accelerator Science through the Australian Government’s National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy is also acknowledged.
