Sydney and Perth schools tackle playground waste and clean up with first prize in ANSTO's hackathon
Shorebirds Competition 2020
A lesson in Science and Sustainability.
Particle Accelerators
The Accelerator Science group purse a broad research program with the aims of improving the performance and reliability of our accelerators, increasing their research capabilities and developing the next generation of accelerator technology.
Nanoprobe beamline (NANO) - under construction
The BRIGHT Nanoprobe beamline provides a unique facility capable of spectroscopic and full-field imaging. NANO will undertake high-resolution elemental mapping and ptychographic coherent diffraction imaging. Elemental mapping and XANES studies (after DCM upgrade) will be possible at sub-100 nm resolution, with structural features able to be studied down to 15 nm using ptychography.

ANSTO is seeking nominations for the ANSTO Australian Synchrotron Stephen Wilkins Thesis Medal.
Role at ANSTO
Removal of dangerous contaminants from dirty water
A group from Monash university has sought to make a new innovative nano-porous sieve material which has the potential to be produced on a global scale and is effective for a much longer time.
STEAM Club for Girls
Offered to girls in Years 5, 6 and 7, the STEAM Club encourages creative exploration of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics through the Arts (the A in STEAM).
Nuclear stewardship science group
The work of the group comprises Radioactivity Measurement Standards, Radioanalytical chemistry, Environmental Radioactivity Measurement Centre, Nuclear security science and Environmental monitoring.
Mitigation and Optimisation of Radiation Responses
This program explores the mechanism and outcome of the interaction of radiation on biological systems in order to improve our understanding of the impact of radiation on the brain, optimise radiotherapy and develop mitigation strategies for space travellers.
Shorebirds 2024: Flight for Survival
