Established in 2004 in honour of pioneering cardiac surgeon Dr Victor Chang, the Victor Chang School Science Awards recognise and celebrate exceptional science students while inspiring the next generation of innovators. These awards aim to foster a passion for science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) among secondary school students, highlighting the exciting and diverse career opportunities in these fields.
Open to Year 11 students from both government and non-government schools in New South Wales, Western Australia, and new in 2025 - Victoria, the awards honour students who demonstrate remarkable tenacity, dedication, and achievement in science subjects such as Biology, Physics, Chemistry, and beyond. Nominations are made by teachers, with a maximum of two students per school selected for their outstanding commitment and passion to science.
2025 Victor Chang School Science Award Winners
We are proud to congratulate the outstanding 2025 Victor Chang School Science Award recipients from schools across the Sutherland Shire, Bankstown LGA, and Liverpool LGA.
These remarkable Year 11 students have been recognised for their exceptional dedication, curiosity, and achievement in science, demonstrating the very qualities that the awards were created to celebrate. Their hard work in subjects such as Biology, Physics, Chemistry and beyond not only reflects their personal commitment to excellence, but also inspires their peers and communities to explore the possibilities of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
ANSTO is honoured to support initiatives like the Victor Chang School Science Awards, which shine a light on the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers. We commend all our local winners for their achievements and look forward to seeing where their passion for science will take them.
We extend our sincere thanks to Dr Emma Rath, Senior Postdoctoral Bioinformatician Fellow, and the dedicated team at the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute, along with the schools, parents, guardians, and students whose support and involvement made this initiative possible.
