Ms Andrea Sutton brings expertise across a range of operational and corporate functions, having held a number of executive roles in safety, human resources, security, infrastructure management, and sales within the coal mining sector.
Prior to arriving at ANSTO, Ms Sutton was a Non-Executive Director of Energy Resources of Australia (ERA) and Board member of Infrastructure WA.
Andrea was previously the CEO and Managing Director of ERA from 2013 to 2017, following a 19 year career with Rio Tinto where she was General Manager of Operations at the Bengalla Mine, and General Manager of Infrastructure, Iron Ore. She was previously the Chair of the Minerals Council of Australia – NT Management Committee. She has established strong government relations at local, state and federal levels.
She has a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from the University of Melbourne; a Graduate Diploma in Economics from the University of New England in Australia and is a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Ms Sutton is Chair of the Risk & Audit Committee.
