Dr Richard Mole is an instrument scientist co-responsible for the cold-neutron time-of-flight spectrometer PELICAN.
Blake Orr from ARPANSA review the Netflix series Radioactive Emergency.
When an energetic ion beam hits a sample it will interact with the atoms through a number of very complex interactions. By detecting and measuring the reaction products resulting from the various interactions and their intensities, you can obtain quantitative data on the sample's constituent elements and their spatial distribution.
With enhanced submicron spatial resolution, speed and contrast, the Micro-Computed Tomography beamline opens a window on the micron-scale 3D structure of a wide range of samples relevant to many areas of science including life sciences, materials engineering, anthropology, palaeontology and geology. MCT will be able to undertake high-speed and high-throughput studies, as well as provide a range of phase-contrast imaging modalities.
Guide to successful proposals and experiments at the Powder Diffraction beamline.
PFAS chemicals in packaging pose serious environmental and health risks, but Australia’s packaging industry is leading the way to phase them out. Backed by cutting-edge nuclear science, industry-led action is creating safer packaging solutions for all Australians.
ANSTO offers accelerator-based particle-induced gamma-ray emission techniques to determine total fluorine concentration in a range of solid materials and rapidly screen for the presence of PFAS (perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances).
Researchers from UNSW have found an extraordinary material that does expand or contract over an extremely wide temperature range and may be one of the most stable materials known.
ANSTO has the capability to analyse heavy isotopes such as 129I, platinum group elements, 236U and Pu isotopes.
Our services include the use of techniques to develop innovative radiation detector technology, such as performing alpha spectroscopy to characterise charge collection capability and radiation transport simulation. We also have expertise in measuring the electrical characteristics of novel detectors and semiconductor devices.
This COVIDSafe Plan describes the actions that ANSTO will take to keep our staff, contractors and visitors and platform users and collaborators safe and minimise the risk of the spread of COVID-19 infection.
Favourable conceptual design review may lead to expanded role for Australia on ITER diagnostics.
ANSTO is an experienced provider of Teacher Professional Development for Australian and International teachers and our courses cover a wide range of topics. Hear from expert speakers, receive new education resources, and develop lessons for your own class.
