Celebrating two years of reliable Cold Neutrons at OPAL

This Saturday marks the two-year anniversary of the full return to reliable cold-neutron service at OPAL. Since then, cold-neutron operations have been almost flawless:  in the last financial year (July 2014 - June 2015), both the cold neutron source and the reactor itself have operated for more than 300 days, for the first time.

To celebrate this achievement, today the Institute hosted a special lunch for all of our friends in ANSTO Reactor Operations, to mark the occasion.

The majority of OPAL's neutron beam instruments are now dependent on cold neutrons from OPAL.
