The nandin Deep Technology Incubator at ANSTO’s Lucas Heights innovation precinct, which fosters innovation, collaboration and aims to build dynamic networks in southern Sydney, has welcomed two new members, eVisuals and workM8.
The ANSTO Innovation Precinct is a part of the Greater Sydney Commission’s Southern District Plan and recently received further support from the State Government following a $12.5 million commitment for its expansion.
Nandin, a Dharawal word meaning looking ahead, is helping entrepreneurs, startups and small and medium businesses gain support and form strategic networks, leveraging from ANSTO’s considerable science and engineering capabilities.
ANSTO’s CEO, Dr Adi Paterson, said I am excited to see nandin becoming a dynamic place for entrepreneurs and start-ups forming new collaborations and connections through ANSTO that can propel their businesses to the next stage.
Stephen Snell, Managing Director of workM8, whose software platform provides integrated staff safety tools and asset tracking solutions, said he was confident about how nandin would create opportunities to interact with other exciting Australian businesses and access new potential clients.
“Although we’re still new to Nandin we have already benefited from the valuable networking and information events. As workM8 expands both in Australia and overseas having access to ANSTO’s Innovation Precinct has already proved to be been incredibly helpful”, said Mr Snell.
Matt Lynch, Managing Director from EVisuals, a company providing high-quality building emergency products, echoed this in saying he “Believed the outstanding collaboration and networking opportunities provided by ANSTO's Innovation Precinct would help his company reach new commercial industries and markets."
The hub’s new partners join a growing group of science and technology industry leaders at ANSTO’s Innovation Precinct, a precinct that continues to champion close engagement between Australian scientists and both local and international businesses.
The Hub’s new members plan to utilise the global reach of the precinct to seek new market opportunities and engage in industry design, collaboration, innovation and entrepreneurship.
“The ANSTO Innovation Precinct is an innovative network spanning across Sydney and around the globe. Nandin is the only Deep Technology Incubator that is co-located with some of Australia’s most significant research and engineering capabilities, providing unprecedented access to our members,” said Dr Paterson
The NSW Government pledged $12.5 million over four years to:
- Create a new incubator for the development of next generation nuclear medicines to treat cancer and other diseases
- Help establish a Graduate Institute, including 25 new scholarships for PhD students; and
- Support collaboration between start-ups, researchers and industry to grow advanced technology businesses in NSW.
