Leadership changes at ANSTO

This afternoon, the Chair of ANSTO, Dr Annabelle Bennett, wrote to all staff to let them know that CEO Dr Adi Paterson has decided to resign. She said the Board is deeply appreciative of the contributions Adi has made, including to the health, research and academic outputs of ANSTO during his tenure. Mr Shaun Jenkinson will continue as Acting CEO, while the Board undertakes a global search for a permanent CEO.

Governor-General visits ANSTO

His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd), Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia and Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley visited ANSTO’s Innovation Centre nandin and several facilities including the OPAL multipurpose reactor this week for a tour after learning of the ANSTO-nandin win in the NASA SpaceApps COVID 19 Challenge.

Scientists ensure their measurements are accurate and precise by regularly calibrating their instruments. In this data set, students manipulate and graph calibration data from Taipan, one of ANSTO's neutron scattering instruments. Students must determine whether Taipan is functioning within the acceptable limits of error for the scientists' experiments.
