Research on nickel

Study reveals that properties of polycrystalline materials can be derived from microscopic single crystal samples

After your experiment

After your experiment

Following your experiment at ANSTO there are certain tasks that users can complete including a user feedback survey and claiming reimbursement for travel expenses.

Last meal reveals eating habits of Australian sauropod

International research led by Curtin University and supported by ANSTO, has identified and studied the first sauropod dinosaur gut contents found anywhere in the world. The stomach content was preserved with a reasonably complete skeleton of the Australian Cretaceous species Diamantinasaurus matildae found in Winton Queensland.

Benefits of nuclear science

Benefits of nuclear science

ANSTO uses nuclear research techniques to address many of the important issues of our time relating to the environment, human health and industry.

PET animal model

Radiotracer characterisation and evaluation

Biosciences staff support research for radiopharmaceutical translation, radiation biology and radiotracer studies. New radiotracers can be fully characterised and assessed by a range of evaluation techniques, including in vitro and in vivo studies.

Journal appointment

Garry McIntyre joins editorial board of Journal of Applied Crystallography.

Kowari Strain Scanner

Kowari - Strain Scanner

Kowari, a residual stress diffractometer, can be used for ‘strain scanning’ of large engineering components as large as 1000 kilograms.

High Performance Macromolecular Crystallography Beamline (MX3)

High Performance Macromolecular Crystallography Beamline (MX3)

The High Performance Macromolecular Crystallography beamline will enable the study of very small (sub-5 micrometre) or weakly diffracting crystals, providing a state-of-the-art high-throughput facility for researchers. MX3 will be able to study the structures of large proteins and protein complexes for virology, drug design and industrial applications via goniometer mounted crystals, in-tray screening, or via serial crystallography methods.

Nuclear power technology explored

ANSTO shared expertise on next-generation reactors and nuclear power with sustainable energy experts at the Australian Academy of Science symposium in May.
