ANSTO and the User Meeting 2024 organising committee celebrate this years award recipients. 

ANSTO's Sydney locations are home to the Open Pool Australian Light-water (OPAL) multi-purpose reactor, the Centre for Accelerator Science (CAS), the Australian Centre for Neutron Scattering, the National Research Cyclotron and the National Deuteration Facility.

The BRIGHT Nanoprobe beamline provides a unique facility capable of spectroscopic and full-field imaging. NANO will undertake high-resolution elemental mapping and ptychographic coherent diffraction imaging. Elemental mapping and XANES studies (after DCM upgrade) will be possible at sub-100 nm resolution, with structural features able to be studied down to 15 nm using ptychography.

Wombat is a high intensity neutron diffractometer that  is primarily used as a high-speed powder diffractometer, but has also expanded into texture characterisation and single-crystal measurement, particularly diffuse scattering.  

This scholarship recognises outstanding ability and promise in the field of nuclear science and technology, specifically as it applies to nuclear energy. Successful applicants will demonstrate a history of interest in nuclear energy and a desire to continue this interest.

ANSTO provides multiple sources for radiation testing of materials and devices including Co-60 gamma sources, x-ray, proton and heavier ion-beams.

The Australian Centre for Neutron Scattering maintains a sample environment service for the instruments. It comprises a range of sample environments, two sample environment laboratories and four sample preparation laboratories.
