Organised by the Australian Synchrotron User Advisory Committee, the 2018 meeting will again be held at the award-winning National Centre for Synchrotron Science (NCSS).

Scientific Programme

  • Advanced Materials - Includes (but not limited to) advanced alloys, semiconductors, solid state chemistry, nano materials, materials chemistry, porous materials, ceramics, magnetic materials, thin films, hierarchical materials, batteries, energy materials, chemical synthesis and characterisation.

  • Biological Systems - All aspects of biological systems from cells and organelles, to organs and tissues, to the respiration and circulatory systems.

  • Earth and Environment - Includes (but not limited to) geology, soil science, geochemistry, mineralogy, ecology, and plant science.

  • Imaging -Covering all aspects of X-ray imaging including X-ray fluorescence imaging, radiography, and tomography.

  • Radiotherapy - The use of radiation, including synchrotron radiation for the treatment of cancer.

  • Soft Matter - Includes but is not limited to polymers, colloids, micelles, liquid crystals, soft nanotechnology, self-assembly, drug delivery, foams, gels, and supramolecular chemistry

  • Structural Biology - Research to disclose the structure of biological macromolecules and the relationship of such structure to biochemical and biophysical processes.

  • Surfaces - Includes (but not limited to) surface science, chemistry and physics of 2D materials, thin films, surface chemistry, catalysis, surface coatings, and nanoscale science.

  • Technique Development - All aspects of technique development covering all aspects of synchrotron science.

  • Industry - Research performed by industry users or in collaboration with industrial partners.
