The Australian Centre for Neutron Scattering (ACNS) is a major research facility for neutron science that comprises a suite of neutron instruments with a range of techniques for scientific investigations in physics, chemistry, materials science, medicine and environmental science among other fields.
Specialist Hydrometallurgist
John Lawson is a Specialist Hydrometallurgist working with the ANSTO Minerals business unit.
CORIS360® GNI images gamma-ray and thermal neutron radiation sources, delivering an unprecedented ability to detect, localise, and identify nuclear materials.
Using the theory of compressed sensing technology, a team of physicists and scientists invented and developed the CORIS360® platform imaging technology.
Compressed sensing imaging can generate an image with far fewer samples compared with traditional imaging techniques.
The THz/Far-IR Beamline couples the high brightness and collimation of a bend-magnet synchrotron radiation to a Bruker IFS125HR spectrometer providing high-resolution spectra (0.00096 cm-1) with signal to noise ratio superior to that of thermal sources up to 1350 cm-1 for gas-phase applications; the beamline also delivers signal to noise ratio superior to that of thermal sources up to 350 cm-1 for condensed phase samples.

Billions of tonnes of iron ore tailings are generated each year from the mining industry. Converting these toxic tailings into soil-like materials which can develop and sustain plant and microbial communities is critical for mine site remediation and improved environmental outcomes.
Design and Innovation Manager
Dr Carol Azzam Mackay is the Design and Innovation Manager at nandin, ANSTO’s Innovation Centre.
The User Advisory Committee (UAC) are pleased to present this year's invited speakers.
Senior Project Manager
Role at ANSTO
You are invited to submit to the various awards from ANSTO, User Advisory Committee (UAC) and Australian Neutron Beam User Group (ANBUG).

Radioactive Waste Management Specialist
Laura Maynard is a Radioactive Waste Management Specialist working in ANSTO’s Nuclear Waste Solutions division.
Radiation Biologist
Role at ANSTO
Nick is a radiation biologist who works for the NST Human Health research theme.
Research is being undertaken through an Australian Research Council Discovery Project "Reconstructing Australia’s fire history from cave stalagmites", led by Professor Andy Baker at UNSW Sydney and Dr. Pauline Treble at ANSTO. The project aims to calibrate the fire-speleothem relationship and develop coupled fire and climate records for the last millennium in southwest Australia.
At ACNS we currently have 13 instruments in our user program, which use a variety of scattering techniques to probe materials over a range of length scales.
