The Australian Synchrotron (AS) and The Australian Centre for Neutron Scattering (ACNS) are pleased to announce the 6th Small Angle Scattering (SAS) Workshop hosted by ANSTO at Clayton, VIC. The workshop will run in a hybrid format, limited to 20 in-person participants for the hands-on practical components of the course.

The workshop will feature lectures covering a wide range of research fields, which will be available virtually to those who are not selected for in person attendance or unable to travel to Clayton. Hands-on experiments will cover the basics of data collection, processing and analysis. The workshop also provides an opportunity to interact with like-minded colleagues and to see the Australian Synchrotron's state-of-the art instruments.

The workshop is expected to be of interest to honours and PhD students, as well as early-career researchers who have used, or are planning to use, ANSTO’s small angle scattering instruments for their research.

Aim

The aim of the workshop is to provide an overview of the theoretical and practical aspects of small angle scattering, including scattering theory, data collection, data processing, and especially data analysis and modelling for a specific area of science, as well as our advice for applying for beam time.

Participants selected for in-person attendance will gain first-hand experience with the SAXS/WAXS and BioSAXS beamlines at the Australian Synchrotron (ANSTO). The program includes dedicated face-to-face sessions focusing on data treatment specifics for both X-ray (Australian Synchrotron) and neutron (ACNS) small-angle scattering experiments.

Expression of Interest

Important Dates

Interested applicants are required to submit an expression of interest form. Participants for in-person attendance will be selected by the organising committee based on the answers provided in their EOI form to ensure the best fit with participants and the course outline.
