On the international stage amongst the leading nuclear nations of the world, Australians hold its own. This status has been earned by ANSTO’s seventy-year history of safe nuclear operations, the application of nuclear science and technology to benefit society and nuclear stewardship role in Australia.
Principal Research Scientist
Role at ANSTO
Instrument Scientist
Dr Filomena Floriana Salvemini is an instrument scientist on the neutron imaging instrument DINGO.
Radioecologist
Role at ANSTO
In a new study published in Nature Communications, researchers from UNSW have demonstrated a more sustainable alternative: an electrochemical pathway that couples carbon dioxide and nitrogen-containing species to produce urea under mild conditions.
Senior Nuclear Analyst
Role at ANSTO

Sample Environments Group Leader
Role at ANSTO
ANSTO researchers have demonstrated longstanding expertise in the study of nuclear fuel and radioactive waste with two recent journal articles in a special issue of Frontiers of Chemistry.
Four annual awards in neutron scattering were announced at Australian Neutron Beam Users Group (ANBUG) and AINSE Neutron Scattering Symposium (AANSS) to individuals with strong links to ANSTO
Instrument Scientist (The triple-axis spectrometers Sika and Taipan)
Role at ANSTO
The BRIGHT Nanoprobe beamline provides a unique facility capable of spectroscopic and full-field imaging. NANO will undertake high-resolution elemental mapping and ptychographic coherent diffraction imaging. Elemental mapping and XANES studies (after DCM upgrade) will be possible at sub-100 nm resolution, with structural features able to be studied down to 15 nm using ptychography.
Board Member
Professor Helen Garnett is a senior science leader and experienced company director, with a distinguished record spanning national science infrastructure, research and university leadership.
